ESC 2025: LipoaScreen, cascade screening for elevated Lp(a) in relatives (Jonas Brinck)

Jonas Brinck (Karolinska Institutet) presents LipoaScreen: 750 patients with coronary artery disease from six Swedish hospitals, stratified by low, intermediate or high Lp(a), invited about 1,200 first- and second-degree relatives for measurement. Because Lp(a) is more than 90 percent heritable, cascade screening from an index patient with high Lp(a) finds elevated levels in relatives far more often than population screening would.
